KATAVI NATIONAL PARK
WE WILL TAKE TO SEE ALL THIS BEAUTY OF OUR COUNTRY
Katavi National Park came into existence in 1974 and is said to be the most
Undisturbed, remote, vast natural and pristine park, providing the few intrepid
Souls who make it there with a thrilling taste of Africa.
It’s Tanzania’s Third largest National Park after Serengeti and Ruaha with 4.471 square kilometer.
The main tourist activities in the park include game viewing, short walks (escorted by armed rangers) and visit to the tamarind tree inhabited by the spirit of the legendary hunter KATABI after whom the park is named.
The most and well know attraction that attracts the tourists to visit the part is
WHITE COLOURED GIRRAFEE which cannot be seen or found in any of the
National Park worldwide and also GIGANTIC BUFFALOES.
Accommodation facilities are available in the form of “Bandas” for 20 people. The park can be reached by charter flights from Dar es Salaam or Arusha or a
Day’s drive from Mbeya 550 km/340 mile.
LAKE RUKWA

Tilapia fish species. Fishing is the main occupation of many people living around the lake.
The lake has no ship transport except small private owned boats used for fishing and transport across the lake.

Is among the major potentials which is not only the source of visitors /tourists but also provide major markets to the agricultural produce of Rukwa Region.
The lake is the SECOND DEEPEST in the world and it is only lake with variety
of ORNAMENTAL FISHES in the world.
Another notable aspect that attract more tourists is the OLDEST SHIP in the world called LIEMBA which does its operation in the lake.
The lake provide an access to Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo and
